Looking to do a long weekend to ulster on the bike once the weather gets a bit better, around belfast, titanic museum, a wee hurl down to portaferry, but a bit wary of the bike being stolen from a premier inn or similar.
What do people do to find accommodation with decent safe bike parking?
Independant guest houses with garages and phone ahead?
Anything else recommended to go and see?

I tend to use Airbnb and either look in quieter areas or ask if there is secure parking

I don't believe there is any other option

Stayed in Fiddlers Green in Portaferry and would reccomend it, also dinner in the Lobster Pot would be high on my list.

I've been biking for years in Belfast and never had any bother at all, even left the keys in the ignition overnight once with the green neutral light lit on the dash and noone touched it (I wouldnt try it a 2nd time!)

Use the Antrim Coast Road to travel from Belfast to Portaferry, it's very much the long way but a really nice route, plenty of youtube videos of people showing it off

Was wondering about this myself as planning a trip to Ireland next year. I'm going to camp and be nowhere near a city, seems like the best option for security. Also only going to stop at things I can park near.

Surely the Antrim Coast road heads north away from Belfast, but Portaferry is southeast from Belfast? confused

Antrim coast up to giants causeway, rope bridge is definitely a must, views and roads are great, even in a car!

A run around the Ards peninsula isn't to be sniffed at either, I can highly recommend Saltwater Brig just outside Kirkubbin on the Lough side of the peninsula if you like a big feed of decent pup grub!

Doh of course! Nice road but will be taking you to Ballycastle not Portaferry!

Right, time to book this.
I will be doing this on a less desirable to thieves tatty old pan european so less worried about theft. 2 musts are visiting portaferry and the titanic museum. Will be taking a 13 year old girl who is very interested in engineering so anything that would interest her i am open to suggesions. Still swithering between camping and hotel. Probably near Newtonards area.
Whats the bike theft situuation like there? Cant really be arsed with a tent but my daughter likes the idea.

Ulster transport museum is worth a trip IMO. Also The Bucks Head in Dundrum if you’re going South of Portaferry
