Anyone done this?

My 18yr old son has just got a job a Morrisons supermarket, but before ehe starts they want him to prove his right to work. I think they want a share code? This is all new to us, we've never heard of it before.

I'm hoping he gets an email from them with a link to how to do this, but from googling the gov.uk website all it says is a British Citizen just needs a British passport, progressing further into the website just takes you to options if you don't have a passport.

Is there a simple way of getting proof as a British citizen?

National insurance card or registering with the government gateway? Evidencing right to work is normally based on non uk citizens, was he born here?

Yes he was, British citizen, so perhaps he doesn't need to prove his right to work? Would he beed to upload details of his passport somewhere?

Thats the page I was looking at, but the link at the bottom to progress further just leads to applying if you only have a residency card etc.

Does he have a passport? If so just talk to Morrisons HR and ask how he uses it to show his nationality.

Yes he does, I'll maybe tell him to visit the manager in the store and show his passport, thanks.

Seems the gov.uk site is more for non British residents.

You don't click the link at the bottom if you are a British or Irish citizen.

There's nowhere else to click to submit any passport details. However I don't think he actually needed to go via the gov.uk website as my son has since contacted Morrisons and they sent him another email with a link to upload his passport details, which I think was missing from his original email, so all sorted now, thanks smile
