Kiln Dried Logs Surrey
Discussion
Ive been struggling for years in same neck of the woods to get decent wood. Hsd a few regular depositers over the years in surrey, but one way or another they have let me down. And generally the wood has always been wet and never as described. I say wet in loose terms, it looks dry but it is not seasoned at all to what is stipulated, doesn't burn as well and can be a pig to try and get the fire going properly. I have come to the conclusion that getting decent wood is nigh on impossible.
I would just go through some local facebook wood offerings until you find one you like, I had a few loads delivered in car boots that weren't bad, and were cheap. There is the homefire stuff but it is like £400 for a bag, absolutely ridiculous.

Funnily enough, I asked a chap at my motorcycle club. He’s South African and recommended these guys in Ascot

We have had logs from these guys and they are superb quality, we do not even spec the kiln dried, just the hardwood

My local ‘seasoned logs’ place in Mitcham is crap. Three years running the logs haven’t been below 10% moisture. I’m looking for a decent place, not too cheap and ideally around Cobham/Guildford which I can get to down the A3. I’m not against driving further. Thanks.
Why would expect seasoned logs to be below 10%? That's very dry, indeed too dry for a lot of log burners.Maybe your moisture meter is a bit off? Key thing is you can tell if wood is too wet by the way it burns ... slow to get going or never really gets going, sooty, hisses if it's really damp, flue temp a bit low even when appearing to blaze away, fire needs more air to keep it going. If you've got those sorts of symptoms, then your wood might well be too moist, but that'd usually put it over 20%.

Thank you for the contributions. As it was easy to communicate with Simon from Braai Wood via whatsapp, I drove to pick some up those morning.
A selection of S.A. Hardwood £7/bag, Birch £8/bag and Oak £9/bag. I’ll see which I prefer.
How does that pricing compare?

A bag? What is there like 5 logs in a bag?A selection of S.A. Hardwood £7/bag, Birch £8/bag and Oak £9/bag. I’ll see which I prefer.

I had a cubic metre or large back deposited on the weekend for £100 - now that isa good value for the amount I got as most places would ask for 150 upwards. Second load from this delivery chap and so far so good.
These guys are the best & most consistent supplier I've used (latest last week)
