Interesting places in the Netherlands for a petrolhead?
Discussion
I'm visiting Amsterdam with family, but it mostly seems to be of art museums which are of little interest to me (although the maritime museum looks like it might be worth it).
I'll have access to a car so distance isn't much of a problem.
There is a historical open air museum about an hours drive from Amsterdam which I am considering.
Does anyone have any suggestions of something that might be a bit more exciting?
PS are there likely to be any difficulties driving in winter without winter tyres?

Just came back from 5 days there, my first time. Loved the place. My friend has lived there for 15yrs so he showed me around avoiding the tourist trail (though we did the Van Gogh gallery which I thought was excellent) . All travel was on bikes!
He mentioned there is a car racing circuit nearby (a car drive distance ) that he likes to visit. Don’t know if it’s open, or if any events are on when you’re there, but as you’re on PH figured it’d be worth investigating.

Marken is always worth the trip, not sure what it’s be like in winter though.
Give the rijksmuseum a shot though. I’m not one to stare at a painting for hours, I can do most museums at a brisk walk. The rijks is interesting, mix of vastly different themes from Dutch colonialism to ww2 occupation. The library is worth staring at.
Louwman as noted is excellent.

I went with a car club years ago and we went to have a look around Gallery Aaldering, upmarket and huge classic car dealer near Apeldoorn.
