Porsche 944 Turbo windscreen replacement

Anyone know where I can get a windscreen for my 1987 944 Turbo? My local independent fitter is struggling to find the part. The first problem is that the catalogue says 1987 is a change over year. My screen has the antenna and dark stripe at the top. The catalogue lists 94454101111 as the early part and 94454101114 as the later one. How can I tell which one I need? It is flush fitting, so I think it is the later one.

So if it is 94454101114, I believe that corresponds to Saint-Gobain Sekurit part number 5801050210 and Eurocode 6714AGNGNAZ. The only place in the UK I can see listing one is Design 911. I rang them. They said they'd check if it was available and never rang back. They want over £815 for it anyway, which seems a bit much. Rosepassion.com list one, but it'll be £850 + delivery from them.

Rareporscheparts have one with a damaged plastic frame (that retains the trim). I guess all of them from a breakers will be in a similar state.

The screen in the car has fire damage in the middle and is definitely not repairable. But the outside edges are fine, so I guess it is possible I could very carefully take the screen out myself and try to not break the plastic frame. Seems unlikely to work.

Any other ideas?

If yours has an antenna in the screen it must be the later model.

That's what I'd have thought too, but the catalogue claims there's up-to 87 and after 87 options, both with antennas. I don't know what the difference is.

That’s a late screen, you can tell as it’s a flush fit and you can also see the oval dashboard inside the car.

I had mine fitted through the windscreen excess on my insurance, although it was some years ago.

My top tip is to remove the A-pillar trims before doing anything with the screen (3 screws behind little covers, uppermost one is at a weird angle) otherwise removing the screen may cut part of them and fitting the new screen will almost certainly glue them permanently in place!

Very interesting. I kept getting 6714AGNGNAZ as the euro code for the late screen type. I just rang Masters and they say 6717AGNGNAZ is for a 968. Is there any difference? They also said they didn't actually have it in stock, but hopefully the man I talked to was wrong about that.

The year breaks are 82 to 86 and 86 to 92 so there will be an either/or scenario if choosing from aftermarket suppliers. 944 cab runs from 1989-92. 1992 on is the same as the 968 windscreen (coupe only).

Porsche will spec the correct windscreen by indexing from the chassis number.

944 541 011 14 is the correct one for your car, try your local OPC, retail is £677.49 + vat

For information, that is a 6714AGNGNAZ on the aftermarket which, according to a model finder I use, is interchangeable with a 6717.

If this is true, I know someone selling a next-to-new secondhand windscreen. But before getting excited, best to measure the windscreen in the car: top to bottom through the middle and across the widest points. If it's 688 x 1423 the plot will certainly thicken...
