hi guys,
under the iris screen at the back of the unit there are 2 bolts at the bottom that can be used to fit a phone cradle.

Any idea where i can find a phone cradle or bracket that will fit without having to manufacture something?

(600LT so probably same as a 540/570)

thanks
w

It's more than I would pay but they are out there.

After a recommendation from somebody else, I use one of these :

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gadget-Galaxy-Magsafe-Mag...

Sticks to the back of IRIS and has worked well for the last 6 months (650 Spider)

Pop over to Etsy, find a 3d print seller, (https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PrintBrothersCo) grab some free files, ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5659581) add a MagSafe mount/charger to the fitting; and use the 2 rear screws to fit.
Easy, and less than £20.

Thanks for this! I have been looking for a good mount solution for my 650s for ages. Would you mind posting a picture of how it looks?

It folds up neatly behind the screen out of sight when not in use if you choose to do that, without getting in the way of the cup holders

That does look pretty good...

3 Questions

1) is that a magnetic holder and so would it work if the phone had a Spigen rubber protector on it?
2) Can it also charge the phone via the inductive charger?
3) Did you actuall take a spare phone out so you could use it for the second picture smile

Yep, magnetic. I have a non metal phone with a plastic case so simply have an adhesive thin metal plate stuck to the back of it.

No idea about inductive charging since my phone needs a cable.

I only went out to the car to take the photo, so yes - took another phone out with me

Thanks - the first bit is a good solution for the car, we have an air vent cradle with a built in inductive charger but it is so slow through the case it barely keeps up with "maps" so we end up plugging the phone in directly anyway on a long trip. And it rattles annoyingly.

The problem might be charging on the pad on the desk with the stick on pad on the back, but I will play with the idea.

thanks, this worked a treat.
the mould had the exact size of holes for the pre-existing screws in the back of the Iris.

@Redshed - How did you mount a cradle/magsafe to that weird square end? Surely it should have a ball on the 3d printed bracket.

I've got one of the original printed ones that was made for the 600LT with a Belkin magsafe charger on it I don't need and can sell on, if anyone wants to message me....

You drill and tap that then fit a third party ball mount and magsafe charging pad.

Is the correct answer. It's really simple.

£12 on ebay does the job perfectly on a 12C/650S. Into either cupholder and you can run it unobtrusively either side.

this is what you want - fits to the iris mount - holds the phone in line with iris screen and fits all large format phones - iphone and samsung.

the phone is held a the perfect angle for the driver to minimise glare, ideal for running maps or waze.

Found one on Amazon that mounts behind the Iris and can swivel either left, right or center. Curious though I get GPS unavailable on my iPhone if it is centered below the Iris and less than flush.
