Good afternoon, I've got a 4 year old BMW 530d Hyb X Drive M Sport, had it since April this year, got it with 4 new RF fitted,
Front 245/35R20
Rear 275/30R20 all Pirelli,
I'm thinking of changing them out next year with non RF to improve the drive experience, obv no spare wheel or kit to change needs to be a consideration. Suggestions or comments welcome please.

Having run both flavours of tyre, my suggestion would be to get better run flats next time around, such as the Pilot Sport 4 Zero Pressure. The OE Pirellis and Bridgestones are super crappola.

Thanks for the response I'll ask my friendly independent tyre dealer next time round.

Lots on this forum recently about this. I’ve got same G31 and fed up with rim cracking issues on 20 inch with run flats. Consensus seems to be go non RF (Vredestein do oem sizes) on 20
Inch or go down to 18 which is what I’ve done. Sure doesn’t look as good but at least now I can get to where I need without cracking rim or developing a tyre bulge (common on RF) that leads to a blow out (which happened).

Blimey, quite a difference aesthetically with 18s vs 20s. 20s to begin with are difficult to improve upon ride quality wise, regardless of tyre type, due to the tiny sidewalls.

18s will look less small if you close the arch gap up a bit with Eibach Pro springs. They won't ruin the ride quality either.

Dropping from 19" to 18" on mine improved things a lot, and then switching to Pilot Sport run flats, there were further improvements. Win win. The Michelins are nowhere near as harsh as the Pirellis and Bridgestones.

Thanks a bit to think about for 25.
