On the Griffiths, are there 2 types of front brake pads?
When I changed my discs I also had a set of brand new brembo pads.
Rear pads matched the already installed ones 100%.
Front brembo pads were different so I had to reuse the existing pads.
Only way I can describe the difference is that the new ones are not as 'tall'. Width was spot on so they would have fitted but the pad surface contact area would only use appx 65% of the disc.

Searching the net is getting very confusing.

Ok, just tried searching a different way.
Seems I've found the solution.
This picture is the type I've got (listed for early Griffith and chimaera) 240mm discs?

Early Griffith discs and pads are smaller, as you've discovered. frown

Griffith 500 onwards use 260mm front and 273mm rear, as did the Chimaera 500 and all Chimaera and Griffs from the facelift versions in late 1995 / 1996.

When I bought them they clearly stated they fit later 500's. Seems not.
I've asked to return them and have the correct ones sent back as their description is wrong.

a few part Numbers for pads to suit 260mm brakes, there are of course many many other brands.

Motorcraft EBD3301

Mintex MDB1290 or 1236

Ferodo FDB579

Brembo P24019

This is something I put on a FaceBook TVR Group a little while back . . . . . . .

Just bought the correct pads for my cars 260mm discs.
Looks like I've got a brand new pair of brembo pads to fit the 240mm to keep forever. eBay seller won't take them back.

And yet they've recently been pushing the 'guaranteed to fit.' rolleyes

Was it a private seller? Any business seller has to accept returns under the distance selling regulations whether they were correct or not!

Possibly not if the seal on the box is broken?

How much did you pay for them?

£32 for them. Genuine Brembo pads.
I don't want that back for them.
Seems a shame to store them or throw them away.

You're right. However, clearly never fitted or used.

You could try and sell them on the TVR 'S' group on faceache which has a lot of active members, might get something back for them..

I don't see how opening them should invalidate a return if they don't fit. For distance selling (i.e. Changed your mind), yes.

If you're sent a clutch kit or a suspension strut for example, you'd have to open the box to establish if it fits. frown

So if 240mm front discs are fitted, which Ford did they originate from?

the 240mm discs and calipers were standard fitment on middle range Ford Sierra Mk1, 1.8, 2.0 litre for example. TVR used them on all the S Series cars (including V8s) and early Griff/Chims.

Harvy 500, you should have no problem finding a buyer if you pop them on the FaceBook TVR Buy Sell Swap group

https://www.facebook.com/groups/tvrbuysellswap

Or even directly on the S Series Owners group

If you ordered a brand new component and it arrived with the seal broken would you accept it?

Yes, as long at was in good condition. Perhaps not if was a fragile component, but if its faulty it can go back anyway.

Are you suggesting nothing can be returned if it's been opened? It only applies to underwear and shaving product as far as I know!

All clothing gets returned WITH its original packaging, but you have to open it to see if it fits. smile I've returned a TV to Currys with the box opened. As long as everything is there. The seller is wrong IMHO to refuse a return 'because it's been opened' if it transpires it doesn't fit, and they said it did.

I've taken brake discs back (for a '95 Chimaera 500 I had back in 2001) because as happens to others, I'd been supplied with the wrong size. Exchanged for the correct size, yes of course they'd been opened.
