Bernie Collins

Isnt Bernie Collins just great, she the only person that talked the most sense during that Brazilian GP, now I may be biased coming from Norn Iron, credit where credit due , Bernie knows her stuff. As for Naomi Schiff, she is totally useless , never heard her say anything useful the whole broadcast, however it must be said she no worse that Danica Patrick,s efforts from Austin, crickey almighy she was gawd damn awful, to borrow from harry enfields frank character, Danica , I admire your driving qualities , but as a presenter.... NO
Bernie is great, some real insights at critical times and thankfully a real antidote to the hysterical, sensationalist presentation style that sky seem to be pushing these days, I watch F1 on sky in spite of the presentation style rather than because of it. More people who actually know what they are talking about please sky.

And it's a "Hear, hear!" from me.In my mind there’s been two major innovations in F1 broadcasting in the last few years.
One is the helmet cameras, the result of millions in investment by multiple stakeholders over the best part of a decade, to get a camera into the middle of a piece of certified safety equipment, giving us the best view possible of the race as experienced by those taking part in it.
The other is the hiring by Sky and F1TV of former team strategists, in Bernie Collins and Ruth Buscombe repectively, that give an insight previously missing from the media output as to what’s actually going on behind the scenes during the event. Having people who actually worked in the teams talking through the sessions makes a huge difference to the more traditional and informed audience, a conscious reversal of what had been seen by many as a dumbing-down of the production in favour of appealing to the new DTS crowd.
There’s several long-running threads on this forum about women in motorsport. Let’s not divert this one into the same vein, but also agree that bringing women with genuine F1 experience into the broadcast media is absolutely a net positive. Bernie and Ruth both do a brilliant job at explaining the stuff most of us will never get to see.

Agreed. Especially in Brazil she was schooling everyone. They were all waffling and she just cuts straight through and give a concise explanation of what is happening. I'd be happy to see her replace Brundle when the time comes for him to hang up his mic.
I hope brundle’s around for a long time yet but you just made me think how great it would be to have him and Bernie share the mike. ‘Press the red button for knowledgeable and histrionic free commentary’

Gary Anderson was a guy from the same mold. I never understood why he was dispensed with.
DC sacked him because Sky at the time had Pat Symonds, Mike Gascoyne and Scarbs and not to mention Ted trying to explain things to the lowest common denominator doing tech stuff.Edited by 2 sMoKiN bArReLs on Sunday 10th November 18:57
DC reasoned BBC could concentrate on the drivers because generally the public care about F1 as a drivers' championship and there's other sources for tech stuff.
