I found Integrated Automotive's kit to be very good, albeit fitted to a Mercedes.
They list the XJ 2012 to 2017.

sorry in the delay mentioning it, can you not just get the head unit flashed
up to a certain year it didn't come with apple car play but can be added later just with a software upgrade that they used to charge for, the hardware isn't different. I have it in may xjl and both f-types. The only downside is it only has usba inputs and although the lightning usba cables were fine if the battery charge on the phone was low it wouldn't work.
Ive subsequently got dongles that allow you to use it wirelessly and then use the other port for a wireless charging puck
