Sorry, this is a really daft one but I keep finding conflicting information on the net when I search.

I've owned this car for a couple of years (mainly as a winter runabout) and throughout the clutch engagement when pulling away has been awfully juddery (no slip, just very jerky).

I suspect it has a dual mass flywheel which is failing, but I can't seem to confirm it for definite on my particular model.

If it is I fear the cost to replace it will write it off effectively, I suspect if there's a single mass flywheel conversion that too will be costly, and I know it's likely to be £400+ to do the advisories from the last MOT too.

It'll be a shame to effecively scrap it, but I suspect a clutch and flywheel is going to be over £1k. Does this sound about right?

They don't have a dmf but its a very common fault,my wife's old one also suffered from it, a new clutch fixed it £400 ish at the time.

That's good news, thanks. I now just have to decide what to do with it then! I could do with changing it for an automatic so I'm going to have to have a bit of a think!
