Why does my mirror fuse every single time I turn on the igni
Discussion
Electrics to me are a black art, so if anyone has advice please make it idiot proof!
Peugeot Boxer van, 2017.
Wing mirror fuse blows as soon as you turn the ignition on. Every time. I have disassembled the mirrors and tried a new fuse every time I disconnected something (ie the heated element, the movement motor etc). I carried on and disconnected from the switch panel on the door, then disconnected the whole mirror plug from inside the door panel. But it still blows every time. I have done the same process on both mirrors.
There is nothing else on the same fuse, just the electric mirrors and folding function.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Is this the model with the outside air temperature sensor built into the bottom of the mirror?
When you unplugged the drivers mirror did the outside air temperature read ‘- - -‘ on the dash?
If so, you will need it plugged back otherwise the engine doesn’t regenerate and the dpf will block!
It sounds weird, but they rely on outside air temp reading to perform regenerations.
Re the fuse - if it isn’t obvious in the mirror loom is it possible that something else is fed from that fuse?

Thanks for this. Yes it does have the temp sensor in the drivers side (its LHD), that was all ok! Temp on dash is good and proper. When you unplugged the drivers mirror did the outside air temperature read ‘- - -‘ on the dash?

The fuse book says its "Auxiliary switch panel - Door mirror controls and folding", so nothing else involved. If the fuse info in the book is right!
I don't have any experience with this vehicle whatsoever, but I had a similar issue on my Honda VFR 800 motorbike.
Every time I hit the rear brake pedal it would fuse my indicators. Sometimes it would just fuse as soon as I turned the ignition on, as you are experiencing.
I traced the whole loom as far as was possible for kinks/breaks/short circuits. Nothing. My local bike dealer swore it was the heated grips shorting and removed them without asking me (really annoying) which seemed to fix it, but only for a month.
Eventually, after some advice on here I tracked it down to a poor earth at the battery. Basically the connection at the battery earth terminal was corroded/dirty and not giving a good earth connection. Everything else was working fine, but this one circuit seemed sensitive to a bad earth.
I cleaned both parts up with my Dremel and reconnected, never had a problem since. Your could use a wire brush or abrasive paper to do it by hand.
Worth a try, costs nothing,
Someone has explained it here: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/electrical-earth...
