Recent v12 owner here. Have noticed the neighbour friendly quiet start function is intermittent. Anyone know why that might be? Pressing and holding the button is all the handbook says you need to do and sometimes I get double red blip from the button and noticeably quieter (but not quiet) start and sometimes no red blip and a full roar.... Puzzling...

It could be you brake light adjustment. I had an issue with mine that the start button didn’t go red when I put my foot on the brake although the car did start. Only happened on cold start when the pedal was hard, otherwise the pedal is softer and it worked fine. Holding it down didn’t seem to enable the quiet start either. Asked the dealer to look at it during a service and they fixed it. Manager was busy when I picked it up but the trainee who handed the car over to me said the notes said brake light adjustment has been performed. Perhaps the pedal wasn’t moving enough for the sensor to engage the brake lights and the start button light.

It would seem more sensible to have this as a menu option somewhere.

1) Quiet all the time
2) Quiet on start up
3) Loud all the time

No need for brake lights, just set it how you want it.

Thanks. That might be the cause. I tried to test the theory by pressing the pedal further down but it still didn’t engage quiet start. Seems to do it maybe once in every 3 or 4 requests. Start button works 100% and lights up red every time. Maybe it’s a separate signal that is used for the quiet start.

Will get it checked out at some point. I’m assuming it’s not a diy check/adjustment.

Or just have it set up like my Mustang, which is time based. Mine is set so that if I start the car before 08:00 it starts in quiet mode.

I thought the Aston V12 startup was epic but the Mustang shakes the whole house for 10-15 seconds on cold start then quietens down a bit.
