Hi all,

Looking at purchasing an F Type 400 Sport, has anyone got one, had one etc and if so, are they worth the extra money over a normal V6S?

Looking at a coupe.

Had a V6S and now P450, never had a 400, but have sat in one in the showroom.

Mostly cosmetic, doubt you'd notice the difference in power (20ps). I do love the interior with the yellow stitching etc. Problem is the limited external & boring external colours (black, white and silver). I'm also not a fan of the matt plastic external trim vs the usual gloss black. These are of course subjective, you may really like it.

You'll also need to drive both to decide between AWD & RWD.

You're not going to notice a 5% power bump, it's just a nice round number for the brochures really.

I'd buy on condition and spec, a lot of F Types are really meanly specified, I couldn't believe it when I got in one where half the seat movement controls were manual and had sod all adjustment so watch out for that. After Tata took over they went from chucking in every feature you could think of as standard on a high trim level car to a more German approach of making everything a separate option no matter what the base trim.

6 speaker stereos with sound quality by ALBA, manual seats like a Fiesta, plastic "leather", manual steering columns, and other povvo spec features abound in TATA Jaguars.

I was looking at these a couple of years ago as a replacement for my XKR at the time. Back then they weren't much more than a regular V6S. Now though I can't see how they make any sense now given they start around £34k and you can get a V8S or even V8R for far less.
