Hope I’ve posted in the right section?

In around 6 months I plan to buy my 1st Porsche, I have a budget of up to £60k
The problem is I am completely stuck on what to buy.

At 1st it was a 2.5t cayman GTS that then moved onto a 4.0 GTS
I am now looking at 911 991.1

I haven’t test drove any yet as I have no intention of buying for around 6 to 8 months.

What would you recommend for no more than £60k?

It will be used every day but only do around 10k miles a year including a couple of Euro road trips,

991.1 GTS or 991.2 Carrera S, both great cars but different driving propositions so drive both.

I recently bought a low mileage 991.1 C4S. I didn't fancy a turbo model and wanted the 3.8.

I bought mine for long distance European holidays and have already covered more miles in 2 months than it had done in 4 years. I'm really enjoying it - a great cruiser and more than quick enough when pushed. Sounds great too.

It's hard to recommend a particular Porsche as there are so many variants, but I am really enjoying mine. smile

I’ll throw a spanner in the works and suggest Macan GTS .

Superb car , possibly underrated by many .

Very comfortable, plenty of space and quick when pushing on.

Don’t write one off.

You need to decide if you want a rear or mid engined car.

Cayman/Boxster have slightly cheaper maintenance costs but the Porsche range isn't too bad for servicing

I'd suggest looking in 4-5 months as the market is starting to sort itself out. Budgeting now may only lead to disappointment later on.

As some have mentioned, test drive all the ones that are on your list however, be mindful the 718s will drive differently to a 911.

Have you considered a 997 GTS? Older, but rarer and likely to retain their value better. Every bit as useable as a 991 and maybe a bit better to drive with hydraulic PAS.

From your low mileage considering daily usage, it seems as though you do a lot of short journeys. Are you sure that is good for one of these cars?

Personally I would get a cheap runabout for daily use and use the Porsche for road trips and leisure, it would likely be cheaper in the long-term.

I also agree that you need to first decide between Cayman or 911, then narrow it down to a specific model.

Is 10k miles a year low mileage?

Well a couple of European road trips a year would probably be 3k or so of that, so lets say excluding that his mileage is 7k.

Assuming he drives to commute nearly every day, that's an average only 20 miles a day so clearly a lot of short drives (about 10 miles) where the engine hardly even gets to full operating temperature.
