Not my photo, but same thing has happened to my torque wrench - is it knackered for good now? Thanks

Looks like it’s just come unscrewed?

Mine does that. Screw it back in.

Make sure you torque it correctly.

Thanks folks. I screwed it back in and then when I turned the silver handle to change the torque it would disconnect again. So just kept twisting them together and seems to have fixed it! (Hopefully!)

Make sure the knurled knob on the top is loose when adjusting the wrench, may be the cause of the unscrewing.

I had this on a cheap screwfix torque wrench, it's not broken but it's likely to have lost calibration. The nut can actually spin on the black threaded part and you can lose the position of the adjuster.

If you use it for any serious work then I would try and home calibrate it with scales.

This. I have a few micrometer style torque wrenches of various (non premium) brands and the knurled knob needs to be checked fairly frequently when adjusting as it drags in the adjuster and tightens up a little.
