Hi All

Considering a long overdue car change-most likely a G30 of say 2 years old ideally, a 530D. Looking at Approved used listings most of these cars are labelled as diesel hybrid which I didn't know was a thing.... Would be interested in any real world feedback on a diesel hybrid and how this compares to a standard 530D or whether it is best avoided-presumably a heavier car?. My mileage is not what it used to be but probably enough to justify a diesel but a need to understand the hybrid bit more or just keep my F10 going.

Thanks

G

I can't see any hybrid 530D on the AUC site - have you got a link/example?

They are the MHT equipped cars I have the same set up in my G11 730d, it's an excellent powertrain gives an additional 11hp of shove, smooths the stop start and increases efficiency round town, self charging.

Thanks both

Looking at it more closely it is indeed the MHT as referenced by Wills2-in 2 minds about this tech...

I've both the non MHT B57 and the MHT B57, the MHT version is a step on it seems like nothing but it really adds to what is already a great engine, coming from the N57 (which I've also had) in the F10 it will feel a lot smoother, quieter and responsive to you, I'd test drive one.

Thanks again-Wills2-thats really helpful. Have my eye on one and planning a test drive next week-I had missed the MHT(Mild Hybrid Tech) reference in listing which threw me as never heard of it before so great to have some real world feedback.

My brother has a non-MHT G31 530d and its a great car. Agreed that the B57 is smoother and quieter than the N57. A bit more of a linear power delivery as well.

Picked up one of these in April this year, 4 years old one owner with 23k on the clock and full BMWSH, special colour specced from new by the 1st owner, its a cracking car, MPG is really good, I get close to 700 mile range on a full tank, it eats the distance driving miles easily, around town and local is where I believe the hybrid bit kicks in, I don't notice any change in performance at all. I've done 9k in it since collecting. I'm really pleased with it 530d XDrive M sport. The only thing I may change is the RF, but they won't need looking at until after the winter has come and gone. It's very easy to wind the car up to much more than legal speeds, so watch out! I only have mine and the family cars serviced and looked after by a really trusted independent that I've used for 20 years or more. Only one bad point they don't come with a CD player fully Apple and Android interfaced but I'm old school and miss loading a CD in for a journey!!
