These triple headers are hard work! We’re already in Mexico after a cracking United States GP.
Let’s hope for less overtaking/track limits controversy and more great racing. Lando came up short when it counts in Austin, never a good sign for a number 1 driver. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back, this circuit should be much more to the McLaren’s liking.
After Lawson’s excellent return, all the pressure in the world will be on Perez at his home GP, but you feel his goose is cooked already.
Who will win? Goodness knows- but I’ll go for a Lando, Leclerc, Sainz podium.
Here’s to a great race.

Excellent, thanks, PIAP.
Now we can hopefully move away from the circular arguments/discussions in the Austin thread, and find something else to argue about here!
You mention that McLaren should be well suited to Mexico, why is this? Long straights and high altitude will help them maybe?
I'm keen to see how Lawson will get on, now that he doesn't have any grid penalties to deal with.
And who knows where Mercedes will be - they seem to be very inconsistent at the moment.

Hi Big Nanas- it's so close at the moment any predictions are largely guesswork- isn't it great?
You need to get the car operating in a wide range of corners in Mexico- very fast (in the thin air) to very slow in the stadium section, and the McLaren has a wider set up window than most. It's also very kind on its tyres in what is usually a one stopper.
The Mercedes is all about its tyres- its the opposite of the McLaren- when its happy its blindingly quick but the team doesn't seem able to keep it in the very small window - particularly when its hot, like in Mexico.

It’s not usually a great place for overtaking Mexico though is it? At least it’s not a sprint weekend for the first weekend of the half term holidays- only decision is whether to go on holiday early on Sunday and watch the race there or leave it as planned on Monday and drive up with a hangover

Will Checo be announcing his retirement so he "can spend time with his family"? I am sure being 204 points behind your team mate will have nothing to do with it.
Is it just me, or would that actually be a weird announcement at your home GP? Also by the same token, a terrible place for RBR to announce it for him.Or is this entire rumour down to something Herbert said, out of nowhere - not even stopping to think that the guys home race in front of his fans might be a really unlikely time for him to announce his departure/booting?
I get the theory that they want to try out Lawson, but they already have him in the RB... If they want to boot Perez, this close to the season end id expect them to just wait and announce it during the break.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this happens, because he'll want his home fans to know that it's his last Mexican GP appearance so they can give him a proper send-off. Plus he can try to frame it as his decision to retire, rather than him receiving the Daniel Ricciardo treatment. But if the announcement happens, would it be an immediate retirement, or would he remain in the car until the end of the season? If Ferrari is ahead of Red Bull in the constructor standings on Monday, I suspect that it might be the former.

If he says he will in front of the fans at the start of the weekend, and then after a poor result gets booted by the team on the Monday... That's the sort of thing that causes problems with the peace on the streets in Mexico.
I can't see it tbh, I really don't see the urgent need to get him out of the car - certainly not to be replaced by Lawson who we would have to assume would take a few races to get up to speed in the RBR, which is nearly the end of the season anyway. I imagine that with either driver, it's likely that Ferrari will pip them to 2nd in constructors this season anyway, and I don't think RBR particularly care about that fact it's arguably better if they are third, in fact.
He might make an announcement this weekend, but I can't see the need or desire to replace him immediately.
