I am looking for an F Type SVR 17/18 plate and have a few questions.

I have a double garage but it has two single doors rather than one larger one. They are 220cm wide (pretty standard I believe), I know technically the F Type will fit through but is it kind of hold your breath tight or not too bad. The cars have power fold mirrors but not sure if putting those in when reversing in would make it worse (in terms of seeing what’s going on)?

I have seen a really nice 17 plate one but it has a large gap time wise in a service between 11,000 miles at the end of 2021 and 28,000 in September this year, so 17,000 over the three year period. Obviously not ideal but would it be a concern (I would likely keep it for a fair while rather then just 6/12 months but obviously resale is a concern)?

I assume the SVR’s can suffer the same subframe/brace corrosion as all other F Types of this era?

Well the SVR is 1923 wide so its a simple calculation allied with a bit of confidence in your own abilities . Personally I would edge it up as far to the exit as I could then momentarily fold the mirrors until you pass the door frame before extending them again .
The Service History would be more of a concern for me and not necessarily because of the mileage covered . Its more a question of aligning the MOT history and the overall condition of the car and making a judgement on the ownership . In short we need much more information perhaps a link to the car in question . Subframe corrosion isn't the major issue you would think it is . Bodywork in the sense that it hasn't suffered prior damage would be my first concern . Check along the line where the top of the doorframe meets the glass roof , lift up the rubber seal for sign of masking lines . Check those wheels have the SVR stickers attached . If they haven't then the wheels have been refurbished which indicates rough use . JLR never supplied these stickers after market and nobody removes the glass roof when repainting . Are the wheels still sat on the P Zeros they came with ? Another indicator of the type of ownership the car has enjoyed .
I think the SVR is a sensational car and already on its way to classic status but its important you do your homework and purchase the right car . Its my intentions to purchase another which I shall stick in my garage with a GT4 Cayman . I think I shall be finished then .

Not its best hue perhaps , but whilst still carrying out my checks this is the sort of pedigree I would be looking for in buying an SVR . You simply cannot beat buying a one owner Jaguar F Type SVR except when its one Owner is JLR . That inevitably indicates a Leased Car .

The white one is also one I have enquired about and obviously has a great service history (and MOT history). I have spoken to them but the showroom is closed whilst the dealership owner is closed so will speak to them in more detail next week.

I had a M2 competition which was similar in width (when the SVR mirrors are in) and was OK to get in/out but still makes me a bit nervous but I guess I would get used to it.

Its an absolute pleasure when someone like yourself turns up contemplating a purchase of an SVR . I don't know where you are based , I am in MK but if I can be of any assistance even viewing something you are interested in as a second opinion , then you only need to ask .I am glad you are at least considering the white car because I feel its possibly the best one currently advertised . On account of it being a limited marketplace they tend to hang around and I wouldn't be shy in making a reasonable offer . As far as specifications go they are extremely well equipped though I have come across them for some reason with basic stereos . The M2 Competition I have ridden in I thoroughly enjoyed though I have never personally owned a BMW .
The F Type SVR however is a much rarer machine and the roar of that supercharged V8 as it surges forward is a wonderful thing . Later on I bought a pair of V8 Vantages with the Mercedes AMG based power plant . these were 4.0 twin turbo engines and though slightly quicker were very similar in the brutal way they could accelerate . At the time of the SVRs manufacture you would have needed another £45,000 and a Turbo S before any Porsche would match it , at least in a straight line .

I see you have and have had some very interesting cars and thanks for the offer. I am not actually that far away, near Huntingdon.

I loved the engine performance of the M2C but not so much the sound. I only had it from 10 months and sold very recently. I still have my 981 Cayman S which I love but getting the itch for a change and power increase hence looking at the SVR - always loved the look and now might be the time.

I actually test drove an F Type P450 today but have to say I prefer the look of the previous model and SVR in particular. This was the AWD version and given the horrible weather today, was very impressed with the traction, but overall it felt held (and muted) back which I guess it is.

The Vantage(s) must have been something else, never been in one but those AMG engines are very impressive.

Don't let distance put you off getting the right car for you, I've bought my last 4 cars from hundreds of miles away and recently sold 2 cars to guys who travelled hundreds of miles to buy.

I was never a fan of the final F types . From the clamshell bonnet with all the blandness of a coffee table adorned by those ludicrous black plastic fake vents aesthetically to me its a complete mess . Typically with Jaguar , they then embarked on numerous iterations diluting the model to such a degree that its nigh on impossible to tell what you are actually looking at . The Vantage up until it was tidied by Aston in 20/21 wasn't much better . When you start to narrow the headlights it can be difficult to give the car much of an imposing frontal presence . The Cayman 4.0 GTS is my second Porsche but the first car I ever bought based only on reading reviews . I am pleased to say that it has been an absolutely incredible sports car and all the reviews are completely correct
What Car a couple of months back named it their Sports Car of the Year which is an incredible feat when you consider the age of the design , the price and the Ferraris and Lamborghinis etc that it was ranked against .
I had the V8 R in Caldera Red and its a lovely colour but it still wouldn't draw me away from the prospect of a full historied one owner example with less mileage . Provenance in my opinion is all when it comes to second hand SVRs and assuming it checks out as read , it would be my choice but we are all different .

Have you made any decision or progress yet ? I see the original car you looked at is still for sale which to be fair doesn't surprise me .
