Before I sell my P&J

Advice please. I am 6 weeks into setting up my own business and am totally gutted but will need to reduce my overheads and raise some cash to get it off the ground. The only sensible thing to do is let my P&J go and then try to buy her back when the business is hugely succesful (I hope).
She is coming back from her MOT today and wanted to know whether or not I should be getting service etc done before to add interest/vaalue or whether I am wasting my time spending money and better off getting on with it. I guess there are courses for horses but any previous experience/opinions would be hugely appreciated.

Going throught the very same thing, needing to sell mine for a couple of reasons. In my opinion, sell the car without spending too much more, although servicing is important as a purchaser will only knock you on price if it's close to an interval. I just had mine serviced and two new tyres fitted. Now its ready to go and the price reflects it's condition. Just keep looking forwards, whatever you sell today, with a bit of good fortune and hard work you can replace tomorrow with bigger faster better etc.. Best of luck.

I tried to achieve most things when I bought my Tiv 2 years ago and the one thing that hasn't happened in 2 years is to be spotted by another PHer - you have made my year...... We won the rugby too so all in all, good weekend.

That's such a difficult one to answer!
If it's not long (many miles ago) had a service and it's all up together, I'd be inclined not to spend any money on it.
OTOH, if it's going to need one anyway, and bearing in mind that any sensible prospective purchaser is likely to want it inspected, you could offer it for sale, factoring in the cost of a service and advertise it initially as you being prepared to have it serviced and sorted ready for the new owner who'll then have the satisfaction of knowing it's in good shape. That assumes you're not expecting a ginormous bill for a load of maintenance items!
It would be quite a brave move, but potentially welcome if it's likely to go to a fellow PHer and certainly the sort of thing that many would welcome.
But if you're advertising it to the masses, on Autotrader or whatever, I wouldn't bother. Caveat Emptor - just be honest about it requiring its next service.

Thanks for that, service is due in January and it is only the 6000 so i think I will get it done for peace of mind - I would hate to sell her and then find out I had passed her on with a problem - just not my game. Another question - I am assuming the prices are better going into summer than coming out of summer - is that highly reflective or not massively ?

My two TVR purchases were January (OK so I looked in November!) and September. But who's to say? If you have just the car someone's looking for it might be any time (and you have a particularly nice looking colour scheme which may be appealing!) have a chat with some independents*, too. OK you wouldn't get so much £££ selling that way, but you'd have some peace of mind if you did decide to sell that way, and probably some free advice thrown in about what the market's really like at the mo.
