Intermittent issue with my drivers door window. It always drops fine on opening the door, but maybe 50% of the time it does't go back up when closing the door. Open and close it again and it will go back up the second or third try.

First thought was the dreaded door modules, but I do have paperwork for them having been changed already in the past by previous owner.

I am starting to think with the symptoms that it could be the latch itself. I believe there's an electrical switch on it that tells the car the doors open/closed and maybe that is not working every time.

Anyone had similar that can confirm my logic?

Without giving a lot of thought to it, if the door latch isn't telling the car that the door is fully latched (position 2) rather than on the first (safety) latch position, I would expect the car to also show a "Driver's Door Open" warning.

Are you doing all of this opening and closing doors to ensure the glass is fully up before you start the car? If yes, then the next time you have the door fully shut but the glass hasn't returned to fully up, start the car and see what messages (if any) you get.

I agree with LTP a dash notice (with a graphic on my MY) if the door is ajar.

If it is coming and going, I suspect the door module.

What year Vantage?

And, try the window reset, although probably won't be it if it is working 50% of the time.

My N400 windows are bit fickle, they do work but depends how hard you shut the door, there’s a goldie-locks force and mine work fine, likely a sensor simply not registering the closing properly.

Could it be similar on yours?

It could be a sign of a battery issue. I had my roof operation stalling occasionally, and car alarm going off once or twice on mine, in the spring, so had it checked at service and they confirmed the battery was on the way out so had it replaced. No funnies since (crosses fingers and toes…)
