Regents Park after 7AM, or where??

Hi

Im in London on Wednesday/Thursday next week with my new shiny Brommie - yay!

Ive only cycled for utility purposes whilst there and fancy going for a leg stretch instead of using the hotel gym before work on Thursday

Im aware of the Regents Park scene however am not committed enough to get up in time for the road closure

The hotel is in Marylebone so if Regents Park is likely full of cars and commuters at 730AM I'll try Hyde Park instead??

Its likely one of my colleagues will join me, we are not looking for an antisocial hour at 400W however would be nice to ride side by side as much as possible and chat

Suggestions for anything likely to be around 15km from the BBC HQ welcomed

I’d just ride around the parks, Hyde Park, across Hyde Park corner, Green Park, then the Mall, a few loops of that, plenty to see.
Watch out for tourists stepping out onto the cycle paths!

Well, riding two abreast and chatting in Z1 London should see you covering 15km very easily. Unfortunately it'll be while embedded in the grille of a vehicle heading to Slough.

Hyde Park pretty rubbish for cycling these days. Regents has the loop so much better. To cover that kind of distance and not get bored you'll probably need to swerve the parks. Going North from your location has the best climb but if you want to keep it flat then head south over Westminster bridge and back via Blackfriars? Traffic will be equally grim everywhere so no need to stress about whether one road or direction is better than the other just lock in a route with stuff you want to see.

hmmmm, thats 114m of climb in 6.3km which is definitely hurty however Im more worried about the lack of opportunity to chat with my colleague whilst we ride without winding up all of you Londres commuters

Thanks for the contributions everyone, Im not massively fluent with London's bike lanes but Hyde Park still looks like a decent option with the proviso that we're having a leisurely chat and fundamentally have a social conscience

I used to cycle up Haverstock Hill as a kid. It's not beyond the realms of possibility for an adult.

Re the whole wanting to have a leisurely chat with buddies. Give it a go but don't expect it to go particularly well. Even on cycle paths the people using them aren't generally keen to be navigating around a WI weekend national trust tour.

Inner circle of Regent’s Park has no traffic is great for chat laps and has a v good cafe.
Hyde park will be full of cycling commuters and getting there from Marleybone can be a bit scary if not used to city cycling

We went for Hyde Park just after 7am and it was all good

There were a few commuters, some runners plus dog walkers but it was quiet enough for most of the hour we were out to chat without getting in the way of you Londoners
