I have these, original seats in my 2015 BMW 1 Series. I like them but after an hour or so the side restraints on the back rest feel tight on my rib cage. I'm average build, not large.

Anything I can do to make them any better?

Are they inflatable? Deflate them if they are.

I've struggled with M Sport seats in F30 tbh, for a different reason - Lower back pain. My back doesn't get on with the lumbar shaping. It's so bad I'm thinking of binning them off for something better as I like the rest of the car. Swap my leathers for your cloth?! biglaugh They are nice seats. I hate leather.

Inflatable yes, but fully deflated.

Quite like leather, are they heated, any pics?

Ah OK, probably not a lot more you can do in that case.

I was only kidding, but they're just the standard black Dakota leather M sport seats you get in all M lites. Same inflatable side bolsters though, which don't work for you.

Get the foam in the seat back replaced. At that age its past its best. New foam will be a fair bit firmer and you won’t sink into the chair as much.

Can test it in the passenger chair. Take a book or ipad, sit in it, maintain an approximate driving position for an hour and see if it’s better. The passenger seat generally gets less use, the foam is likely fresher.

Passenger (wife's) side just as bad, had the car since 30k, now on 60k, always been like this.

Are you referring to the lower back pain issue? If so, I bought the car on very low mileage and it's always been a problem. I swapped out the back panels for netted ones last week and checked the foams and springs etc and they're all as new. It's just my back not liking them. Might look into some orthopedic thingies, or just put some 5 series seats in as my brothers G31seats are supremely comfortable.

FWIW, the passenger seat feels just as firm as the driver's (I'm only 12.5 stone so don't overload the seat) but appreciate the advice.
