Driftlimits - Junior drivers experience
Discussion
Was looking at the 2 Hour Porsche on Track "experience" for a birthday present. I'm usually pretty dubious about these experience days but for an 11 year old thought it would be pretty cool. Does anyone have any experience of this outfit or even better the junior driving experience?

have to say, £376 to drive a fairly mundane porsche boxster seems like a lot... when your youngster can drive three supercars for £220.
as for drift limits, they were pretty good - did a supercar experience a few years ago and they were quite happy for me to push on. the little circuit they used was pretty fun, so got no problem with the organisation on the day itself.

Can't speak for that specific experience, but I did do the Mustang experience a couple of years ago. Echoing brillomaster I'd say they were pretty good fun, they encouraged you to push on and enjoy yourself, and although I lost count I'm pretty sure we did a couple of extra laps more than technically paid for.

You're right. I've actually booked her the MX5 on track training. I spoke to them and the kids get almost the entire 2 hours behind the wheel actually learning to drive on track. It's about 100 quid cheaper than the Porsche and I think will probably be less intimidating to drive for an 11 year old. Honestly I think first time behind the wheel a supercar is a complete waste of time and at that price how long can they get? Will report back!as for drift limits, they were pretty good - did a supercar experience a few years ago and they were quite happy for me to push on. the little circuit they used was pretty fun, so got no problem with the organisation on the day itself.

Perfect thanks SirThe missus lad got bought one last year he was 11.
We turned up at an airfield at a time assigned to us, and realised there was probably 200+ people waiting for different cars. Think we waited for about 2-2.5 hours for his name to be called.
Few catering vans on site £££.
He was given a lanyard, after his experience he was given a memory card to put in the lanyard, you were they expected to pay £££ to get the video and then expected to just dump your lanyard into a big box at the end, the lad instead put the lanyard in his pocket and forgot about it, found it a week later.
There was a note in it saying £80 for not returning, never heard from them again, the memory card contained two videos (front and rear facing) and software to combine the two videos.
There seemed to be 3 companies on the day all running from the same tents on the airfield.

supercar for an 11-year-old that has never driven. Surely that is a good idea.as for drift limits, they were pretty good - did a supercar experience a few years ago and they were quite happy for me to push on. the little circuit they used was pretty fun, so got no problem with the organisation on the day itself.

My lad is planning on doing a track day in his own car (i20N) and I’d like to get him some 1:1 tuition first.
Is the Driftlimit 1:1 a good start?
Assume it’s on track and not drifting..?
Drive Limits would be a good bet for that, there are four person tuition days at North Weald. Mark Robbins runs it, he is also a Porsche instructor at Silverstone. Is the Driftlimit 1:1 a good start?

Have looked at that (and the PEC) but no dates available before his potential track day.
I’ve done PEC a few times and thought it might be good for him, but I don’t think he’d learn enough from it.
Might have to be a last resort though.

Mark is Drive Limits, Andy is Car Limits, both at North Weald. Whilst Car Lmits was set up first, having attended both multiple times I'd plump for Mark every time. Lots of 1-2-1 time with Mark learning the basics and then timed laps on a short circuit to finish.Have looked at that (and the PEC) but no dates available before his potential track day.

The kids learner track experience mine did there was brilliant. Taught her to drive manual in about 15 minutes, and of the 2 hour experience spent probably all but 5 minutes on track. From that experience I'd have thought the 1:1 for adults would be really good too. The alternative would just be to get an instructor for the actual track day which I'd highly recommend regardless. Most trackday organisers have instructors to choose from. Is the Driftlimit 1:1 a good start?

Thanks, that’s good to know.I’ll also find out who the trackday organisers are and enquire with them.
