I know they are trying to get us off the roads but this seems to be getting worse every year.

2010 4.7 v8.
Road tax jumps about 75.00 every year

This is my second Aston and 5 years no claims with this one
3,000 miles a year.
This year it came out for its service and mot then went back in sorned due to work commitments
Im on the Devon /Cornwall border
Im over 60
Churchill has said thanks but no thanks to re-insure
saga wants 2.5k

looks like they are trying to get us off the roads
Is anybody else having problems?

If it's not your daily driver, try insuring it through one of the classic car insurance companies. My 2006 V8V is insured on the same policy as my two 1970's classics and the total cost is £660 of which IIRC the Vantage is responsible for about half. It is a limited mileage policy, but the mileage allowance I have is similar to your annual mileage.
Good luck,
Graham

Perhaps Churchill and Saga have changed their underwriting strategy - unless your job title is unusual or on their " not keen list " your age ,location ( assuming not the "worst" post code in say Exeter , doesn't leap out as being poor for underwriting reasons and £2,500 is a silly amount to quote.
Have you tried using a comparison site or perhaps a local Broker ?

Retirement should make it slightly cheaper too.
When you come to insure it next year, try Howdens ( previously A Plan ), I bet they have a reasonably local to you office.
Best wishes for your retirement in the meantime.

Surely if you are successful enough to have an Aston you have some form of critical thinking? Why would an insurance company who profit from driving want to “get us off the roads”? Talk us through the logic.

Seems wrong. I have a DBX which I have had since new, guaranteed replacement value at new list price, any driver policy and park it on the drive in London and I don’t pay any more than that.

I put my DB11 on my Admiral multi-car policy and that was £270. Individual policies were about £800 and my location and age are far from perfect for obtaining the best price. Try a multi-car if you can.

Thats crazy. I have a 2009 DBS and my policy with Saga is only £302. Car is garaged, fully comp full no claims and live in NE Scotland. Its far cheaper than my daughters 1.0l fiesta!!!

Hello Steve,

Oh dear, nightmare.

The only thing that I can suggest, is that you try Aviva Direct (online).
Their premium has crept up for me (same car), but seems not too bad compared to my other cars.

2021 £248
2022 £243
2023 £268
2024 £326

Ive got my V12VS Roadster with Aviva on a multi car policy. I'm 54, insured for 4000 miles a year with >10 yrs NCB and it was £480. This is In in rural Nottinghamshire.

I would try one of the comparison websites and/or multi car policy.

Take a look at this thread which was started at the end of 2020. It seems to be quite a common problem nowadays.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I was with Aviva for a few years and then for no apparent reason they refused to quote me a renewal price. I went to Churchill and was with them for two years and then they did the same. Went back to Aviva and hey presto they were happy to take the risk. I guess it’s all about their cyclical business/risk models but none of it makes much sense really. So as advised elsewhere give Aviva a try or just shop around via the usual comparison websites and hopefully you’ll get the result you want. Good luck. BRM.

I've been with Admiral for a few years and without prior knowledge or ringing around, they reduced my premium for 3 cars (1 Aston and 2 EVs) by approx 1/3 (£822.93 less) for this year's renewal. Happy days. No idea why, nothing has changed. Full NCB etc.

Another vote for admiral - My 2019 Vantage is £520 a year (42 years old, kept on driveway in Cambridgeshire, 12,000 miles a year (daily driver), driving 15 years and full NCD).

Are you kept on the drive way because your Vantage is in the bedroom?

I don't understand insurance companies ... got my Vantage with Saga and it went down from last year (I'm 56) ... I now pay £230 fully comp with a 7,000 mile policy and have this now guaranteed for 3 years with no increases in price.

I’ve just moved from Aviva to Saga for my impending renewal.

Aviva wanted about £450 (almost double last year’s premium) and Saga came in at about £220, bumped up to £280 after declaring a couple of mods (suspension and brakes)

Try Admiral. They insure my V12VS and two other cars for around £1500.

Sometimes I wonder if our cars are getting a cushier life than us
