G350 V6 Bluetec - Any one have any experience of running one

I currently own a GLC 43 AMG and fancy a change (less annoying noises and lights), I've always quite fancied a G -Wagen ,but there does not seem to be much information out there on the cost of running these things (currently re-reading R129SLs thead at the moment), from what I've read, the G350 diesel seems like a pretty robust engine, but the Ad-Blue aspect does concern me some what. Is there anything else that should concern me?

i test drove a 2017 G350d a few years ago. Drove 4hours to see it and the plan was to part ex my C63 at the time.
It wasn't meant to be. It was.. pretty horrendous. The interior was cramped (smaller than the C63), legroom in the rear was non existent, and the most memorable thing for me was the steering - it was as if the steering wheel wasnt in sync with the front wheels. The G63 of that era must have been petrifying as i can only imagine how so much more power would have just overlwelmed the chassis and steering. Engine was the 350d was good enough - out of the 63 and the 350d, i'd say the diesel is far better suited.
I currently have a newer G400d now. Its not like the fast and shouty AMG's i've had previous but the updated car (2018+ onwards) is leaps and bounds ahead of the old car in almost every aspect. It steers like a Range Rover, its very comfy, has all the modern tech and is generally a pleasure to be in. Similar to above i preferred the 400d over the 63 (and im a huge fan of the 4.0 V8 in all AMGs!) as a diesel just suits the 2.4tonnes of mass better. It's not a car that encourages you to drive fast and the AMG just felt like it was overwhelming a lot of the time

you'll have a wake up call going from your current GLC to an older G Wagon and i'd bet after the honey moon period of 'driving a g wagon' wears off. you'll likely regret it. But there is nothing quite else like them on the road and they hold value well. But the only way to find out is find one and take it for a test drive as long as you can. If the budget can stretch to a newer car from 2018, you certainly wont regret it!
