Coaster hub fo freehub?

My daughter has a 20" bmx that has a coaster hub, can i swap it out to a freehub or do i need to swap the whole wheel? This is a project on a budget.

All her previous bikes have been freehubs, so shes not liking the change.

You can take it to bits and convert it to freewheel pretty easily, but I assume you will then be installing a rim brake?

Strange thing was it came with front and rear rim brakes.

Ive seen the mod to do, but it looks like it only gives you partial freehub

If you completely remove the brake ‘pads’ and bend the tabs it works like a normal freewheel. Can be a bit draggy if you just disable the tabs.
