Not a comeback, simply a technical partnership and a way to increase the number of Japanese drivers getting to F1, whilst developing TGR's engineers. Reading the release on social media, Toyoda-san has specifically asked that it isn't reported as a Toyota F1 return. Here's the announcement:https://www.motor.es/formula-1/toyota-vuelta-f1-ha...

Toyota must have seen Honda being big in F1 and wanting to show their face as well.
Talk about rivalry.
Aston Martin coasted along on the back of RedBull and whatever engine partner they had for years. Same as Ford will do soon.
Whats interesting is such a small outfit attracting such a big name.
And to think there was a vocal and persistant effort here and in the press to say they were doomed, doomed I say, doomed.

The rumours first surfaced and were discussed here around the time of the British GP back in July. It's an odd setup - Haas with bases in USA and UK, design office at Ferrari and manufacturing at Dallara in Italy, now partnering with Toyota in Germany and Japan supposedly without breaking any of the existing links. Something is going to give, and reading between the lines it looks like Dallara is the current weak link, and they are looking expedite the manufacturing and upgrade process beyond what Dallara can deliver.

I wonder if Haas now having a Japanese team principal in Ayao Komatsu may have been a factor? It's dipping a toe, partnering with Haas effectively gives them a seat at the table without making the full on commitment of an engine or full on works team.
It's good for Haas and good for Toyota, will be interesting to see how the partnership develops, engine first and then works team in a few years with Haas as a junior partner team/initial test bed for the engines?

So how much of this sudden upturn in form is because of the talented Toyota engineers that have been working with Haas since 11th October 2024?
26 points were scored in the first 18 races compared to 13 points scored in the last 3 (since Toyota joined).
Less than 0%. 26 points were scored in the first 18 races compared to 13 points scored in the last 3 (since Toyota joined).
I'd be surprised if a Toyota engineer had contributed anything other than joining a factory tour in the last 4 weeks.
