service record check on exchange motor?

Hi guys -

Per my other thread, am looking at an exchange engine unit for the X3.

there are various ebay bare block/exchange options -

the unit i'm looking at has the reg and VIN of the donor car - does this give me the ability to at least check the rudimentary servicing?

have checked the MOT run of play, which looks fairly consisnect with 'normal' use.

If you guys can point me to a service checker - would be most grateful,
