Griffith 500 Y piece catalytic converter?
Not the 8 bolt type. The clamp type.
Got one sat in my store and trying to save up for some exhaust manifolds.
When the time comes, my ACT manifolds and ACT decat Y piece will be going too.
Just roughly what's a standard y piece cat worth?

100 but more like 150 because more and more owners with decatted Y are struggling to get the cars moted! As time goes by this price could rise further.
Many recent buyers only realise this when they can’t get it to pass emissions tests via there local garages having now found out the cars Y piece has been cut open and cat removed.
This was very popular and still is for some but more and more MOT stations are reluctant to pass cars with said Y piece and I’ve noticed a number of owners wishing to go back to emissions friendly Y piece.

Why are you getting rid of the Act goodies?
They are seen as very good.

Equal length primary headers are not all they are cracked out to be IMO too many dynamics involved apart from just equal length at play here resonance tuning etc etc , narrow RPM torque/HP improvements at best for big outlay especially if it dont follow through like equal length intake runners i.e separate TB's or choke per cylinder carb arrangements and a very nicely built RV8 and I do mean nicely scratchchin

My cars engine was fully rebuilt by powers performance last year. Only done appx 4k since then.
Mbe ECU.
Kent 885 cam.
Act exhaust manifolds.
Act decat Y piece.
Vernier adjustable cam timing pulley. .
Act shortened carbon fibre trumpets.
I want a 72mm throttle body now. Someone here (Elliot?) does them. Help!
Injectors to be upgraded to 4 hole Bosch injectors very soon with a 3bar fuel pressure regulator.

Must admit even though those exhausts are a work of art I see them as a complete waste of money.
We are all different though.
Plenum here.

Try this eliot@mez co uk he may also ask you to get the water heater void underneath the butterfly welded/built up as this is where they break through on boring out , he's a good guy used him twice for this service many moons ago

I spoke to Lloyds yesterday about those manifolds.
Yes they are a work of art BUT, in my mind, you're correct, they are expensive. Expensive to the point if I get my bag of sexy exhaust manifold cash and spend it on other things on my car the car would take 3 or 4 steps forward.
If you said, exhaust manifolds OR new seats, wheels refurbished, stage 3 cylinder heads and a remap, it wouldn't be a hard choice. I'd go for that. Cost would be about the same. Aka, no brainer.

Thanks. I sent an email to him first as a check he still uses that address.
What irritates me is looking last year V8 developments and ACT where asking £250 all in to do the throttle/plenum upgrade.
Both, overnight put it up to £350. If anyone can justify that leap in cost I'd be happy to listen.

There is some info on here somewhere that it's just not needed up to a certain HP so worth doing a search.

Have you made a definite decision to ditch the manifolds and Y piece from ACT then?

When the time comes, please give me a shout! Even if it's only the Y piece.

I'm permanently on the lookout for a Decat Y piece (clamps, not bolts).

Agreed.
You’d go for equal length manifolds if all other engine mods had already been carried out thus ensuring you get the best from the new and expensive manifolds.

Wouldn't you need a re map after fitting manifolds so part of the change up.

The sound and look of equal length manifolds is probably the reason why I’d go for them as it’s truly sublime but how much extra power they would give without maximising other areas first would be negligible compared to the cost.
Powers have done this to Matthew Poxon car after also fitting throttle bodies so worth looking for his comprehensive right up on the subject and as Sardonicus mentioned ( who is a very informed engineer) throttle bodies are advised if you want to make the most of the manifolds but this starts to add huge cost for the actual power gains achieved.

If your cars a 500 wouldn’t the heads already be close or upto stage 3 anyway.
Others with more knowledge of stage 3 heads could you advise please .

I saw a video of Powers boring out a plenum to 72mm the other week so I know they still do it.
