Range Rover - 2018/2021 - Diesel 3.0L V6 or 4.4L V8?

The above are looking to be good value right now, despite the obvious insurance and it won’t work issues.
Would be used for a few long trips and quite a few short ones.
If I did dive in, it would be a long term hold.
So which engine?
My only Land Rover experience is a 2012 Defender 90 and a 1954 Series One, both of which which I’ll be keeping.
Any advice much appreciated.

SDV8 all day long. I’ve owned 3 of them. They are robust, smooth and sufficiently rapid for all types of driving and will deliver 30mpg+ on long journeys.
The SDV8 had an additional dynamic control system on the suspension (can’t remember the LR name for it) that the V6 didn’t, which makes a big difference to how it corners.
There were some problems with the V6 engine but I don’t know if they solved that for later L405 versions.

I’ve driven all of the engines from that era:
Hybrid: fine when electric only, gutless and unrefined the rest of the time.
3.0 v6: it’s OK, but can feel a bit slow.
SDV8: very nice indeed, more responsive than I was expecting.
S/c: just had the edge and, although the MPG isn’t great, seem to hold their value better (offsetting the fuel cost a bit).
All are much better than a Puma or Series, but don’t sell either of those! I sold my Puma when I bought my RR. Cost me 50% more to buy another one a couple of years later…
