The Tesla Model 3 - Intel or AMD?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying a used Tesla Model 3, but I’ve noticed that older models come with the Intel chip, while the newer ones from 2022 onwards have the AMD Ryzen chip.

For those of you who have experience with either or both, is the AMD chip a significant enough upgrade to justify paying extra for a newer model? Is the Intel chip still reliable for everyday use like navigation, entertainment, and overall performance? Or would I really notice the difference in speed and responsiveness with the Ryzen chip?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any experiences you’ve had with either chip!

The Ryzen processor is better supported and a few features (mainly 3D visuals) are/were implemented first on it. Over time the difference in features is likely to grow, intel being legacy.

You’ll probably find there are other less obvious changes too, such as the LiIon low voltage battery with the Ryzen which is said to have better long term reliability.

How much it’s worth is something only you can answer, but I’d go Ryzen if I could

Tuned down a 21 plate from Tesla based on the above. Feeling better now it was justified.
