Hi all.

I thought id give this go to see where it goes. I have rebuilt a few accident damaged cars over the years but generally just been light panel damage, but have never really video'd or photo'd it. However now that my kids are starting to show an interest i thought id start videoing it and make it a bit of a family hobby.

We are going to do increasingly more harder repairs as we go on but started off with this one, have just taken delivery of an audi tt which we will repair and then modify, the videos will cover the modifications and hopefully inspire people to show how easy it can be to do some things yourself by researching and giving it a go.

anyway here is part 1

Car is currently in the bodyshop so hoping to get it back in the next week.

Then there will be the rest of the rebuild going up.

Did that car get written off for that minor front damage?

Yeh, cars are getting written off for less and less now. To be honest if it had to go to bmw or an approved repairer to be repaired, the value quickly mounts up and they generally only replace with brand new genuine parts so it would have been uneconomical considering it was wing, bonnet, door, bumper, suspension damage and needing painted, there was also other little bits. However as the airbags had also gone that's where it gets easily written off.

For example on one part, a new LED headlight is over £1000 from BMW.

I also believe insurers are taking into account now the cost it would take for a hire car whilst repairs are carried out. So there are bargains to be had out there if you are happy to give it a go and source parts from second hand sources, especially if you can get parts the right colour and are willing to shop around a bit to get the best prices. I will summarise the prices of the rebuild in an upcoming video.

Also wait and see the Audi TT i am about to post soon. It was written off for front wing damage and a little scratch on the bumper. I have essentially picked up a 2012 TT for £2300 with 77k on the clock and it has cost me £200 for a wing in the correct colour, therefore I am going to focus on modifications on this one to make it look and perform a little better.
