MINI CD radio unit replacement?

The CD radio unit in my MINI (R56, 63 reg, Cooper D hatch) has stopped working. Won't even come on now.
I've been quoted £150 just to diagnose the problem then plus whatever charge it is to fix it.
On Ebay I see there are used units for around £80-100. Is replacing the unit something that can be done DIY? It looks awkward as it's integrated with the speedo.
Also I'm guessing some older units may not have DAB?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks
