Random question. Last night there was a ruckus outside my gaff. I saw nothing, but heard it. Police arrive and have a look about.

Today police are back, they knock and say they are doing door to door and ask if I saw anything. I said I didn't but I heard a bunch of shouting and most of it I couldn't make out. They take my details.

Whilst I'm there talking, they have arrested someone from a house over the road, who is now looking at me, talking to the police, while he's put in the back of a police car.

Is this normal? Couldnt they have arrested the geezer and taken him away before asking the neighbours what they saw.

Just mildly concerned now at some point I'll have a brick through the window.

Why is your question random?

Arrest him, he asked a non random question when he clearly stated it was going to be random.

He must have something to hide.

Perhaps they didn't know who had done what at the time they started asking questions.

Perhaps they got a tip-off at some point & responded to it.

yes We need to wait for the forum crystal ball to come back from the ‘what is wrong with my car’ thread before we can work out what happened.

If he throws a brick, throw it back.

Trust me, his mind is focused on where he fked up, rather than Dave over the road talking to plod. It's your call if you give a statement. If you do, it could be read to him in interview, but it doesn't sound like you have anything of evidential value. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Wait, how do you know I'm Dave???

Jokes. Thanks I'm sure you're right. Haven't heard anything further and as you say I don't have anything that identifies anyone or can prove what they may have done.

Still quite interested to know what happened as the police response was sizeable.

I don't think anyone on here can answer that for you.

When the guy from the house over the road comes back home, go over and ask him?

Was the chap across the road arrested in connection with the shouting and yelling incident, or for something unconnected with this incident or even your neighbourhood?

I know, wasn't expecting anyone too, was a statement rather than a question. I'm just nosey. Police haven't released any info or appeals for witnesses, guess there is no point as it was in a place surrounded by houses they can just bang on doors.

It's possible but I think it is related. I suspect it started in or outside their house opposite me and spread into the road.
