50 Years Of ITV
Discussion
Most things are improved on over time. Cars, planes, communication, architecture, IT - generally gets cheaper, faster, smaller (ok, bigger in the case of architecture). So, is TV (content) the only thing we've ever invented that steadily regresses over time? Does anyone else think that more channels is not necessarily a good thing? Same number of people watching more channels = less revenue per channel = worse programming.
Good piece in the Times sports section today on the FIFPRO footballer awards, suggesting that the real award and test for footballers is sometyhing like winning the Premiership, FA Cup, or winning the champions league and all this constant award is just duplicity, made worse by the need to have that Icon of the coach potatoe Eammmon Holmes presenting the award for 'world legend'and Rooney being towered over by Jerry Hall.
I agree. Can't recall the last 'best bricklayer' awards on TV. I guess as they have free air space and our advertising money they can put on whatever back slapping tripe they like, although I understand Charlote Church was something to behold!
