Gearbox problem
Discussion
It sounds similar to symptoms caused by a flat key fob battery. Look at the posts for Thursday 19 Sept 24 here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Brand new key fob battery fitted and car tested but showed no improvement, seems to be slipping in 3rd gear as well as the other issues.
Speaking to my Alpine dealer today, who supplied the car, they serviced it before I collected it but are not able to confirm if the 4th year gearbox oil and filter were changed. Being collected next week for them to diagnose.

So, an update regarding my gearbox issue…
My dealer admits the gearbox oil and filter weren’t changed during the 4th year service which happened to be done for the handover from my local dealer in Winchester where I bought it from. They agree to take it in and investigate, I’ve told them the issue only happens when you give it the beans.
They’ve contacted Alpine for advice and been told to reload the gearbox software as a probable fix, then test drive before handing back. They’ve called me saying it’s all good, it’s been given a serious workout so come and get it. I get 1 mile onto the motorway and gearbox goes into limp home immediately, back I take it and left for a few more days. Collected and this time seems fine, I’ve done a few standing starts and gearbox seems all good. They’ve adjusted the pressure on one of the 2 clutches after instruction from Alpine.
Today, track day at Goodwood, I’m thinking if it gets through this test it must be sorted but I get to the second corner on my first lap and issue returns. We tried another lap in auto and nursed it round for a few laps, it seem to work OK for the rest of the afternoon session.
Where do I go from here, do I try and get the dealer to buy it back at a favourable price, or maybe demand a new gearbox seeing as they’ve not maintained it according to the service schedule. Thing is I’ve lost confidence in it and unless they find and replace a broken part I’m not confident in their so called fixes.
Anyone else had a similar gearbox issue?

Hi. Others on here (and on Fb 'Alpine A110 owners' forum) have reported gearbox issues. I suggest keep pushing Alpine UK and the dealer to fully diagnose and fix. If you can, maybe have a passenger take videos of it happening.
I've been looking on the FB forum but not found anything about gearbox related issues, I've been in touch with Alpine and they promised a response by tomorrow (Wednesday). My newish 110GT suffered "Gearbox failure(hazard)" @ c.1200 mileage twice in one day in August after driving some 100/150 miles and many traffic jams.
1st time on the M1 southbound mid pm from Leeds cruising at 70 something - parked up within 3 miles after the bonging alarm went off and waited 1/2 hour and the gearbox had apparently cooled; Re-started and everything seemed normal ie. no error msgs.
By 7pm having arrived at destination it all happened again when I stopped in the main road and refused to restart ; Alpine Assist/RAC were promptly contacted and would you believe an hour later after having cooled down, everything was back to normal.
RAC could find no error msgs and likewise Alpine Winchester. I even suggested a change of gearbox oil but without any error messages that was not going to happen and said to try Sport Mode if circumstances look similar. Alpine UK could not throw any light on the problem either.
Meanwhile the car is fine although I try to avoid traffic jams and the weather has'n't exactly been hot.

My car went back to the dealer yesterday and a call from Alpine today to say the gearbox oil pump was found to be faulty along with the oil pressure sensor.
Pumps available but the sensor’s on back order so I’ll be stuck with my grubby Clio courtesy car for a bit longer. Glad that components are being changed, always wonder when just an adjustment is done as to whether it will actually fix the issue.
Do other people get given filthy courtesy cars? This Clio is my second from this garage with a filthy interior, seems garages no longer care both about their ability to fix problems (especially as their computer doesn’t tell them what’s wrong) or basic cleanliness 😡
I must mention Alpine, their customer service chap has been exemplary.
