And why would you want to do that, eh, eh?

Are you a student?

You can buy special bits, that are oval shaped for drilling glass, just the job.

Alternatively it is possible to tap an almost perfect hole through any glass with a dart.

He'd need to make it on the side very near to the bottom other wise the lam...sorry, bottle would be stood on the flex. It'd fall over.

As god is my judge.

The amount of times that I've tapped a hole through the side of a milk bottle with a dart I would rather forget...

Maybe someone has challenged him to make a ship in a bottle and he's a dirty cheater.

Close, my student days are over ( I would love it but the little lady wouldn't, not a big fan of the massive tv I got in the tiny living room already), but it is to make a lamp, but not for me, do you know how much these things sell for ? £40 for a empty bottle and led mood lamp ( £2 ) and some hot melt glue. Al I need to know is how to make the sodding hole

I wonder what state of mind you'd need to be in to undertake such a repetitive task...

And I can, indirectly, vouch for Plotters assertion.

Edit: But wouldn't any non-masonary/non-wood drill do? Surely it's not a million miles away from drilling a ceramic tile. In which case use either masking-tape and start slow, or run the drill "backwards" for a short while, to start off without slipping & scratching.

You mean a dart as in one of the 3 you use to play darts?

WTF did no one tell me this years ago to save me inhaling plastic coke bottle fumes?

Yep.

I was sceptical too at first but it really does work.

I'm going to try it when I get home.

Do you tap a circle shape with the dart or just hit it hard once?

It takes gentle, repetative taps rather than an over-arm lob of a dart, mind.

Takes hours but once you get the first little chip out then it gets a lot easier.

F*ck it, I can't be arsed... I'll tell someone impressionable and get them to do it.

Quickest way is get a glass bit and then widen it out to hosepipe size with the dart...

Go into your local B&Q and ask for a glass drill bit and see what they say........while you are there you could try buying some tartan paint and also ask for a long weight (wait)..........

On a serious note try buying a drill bit for drilling tiles that might do the trick!
