It's very doable. Just gone through the process myself. The roof of my garage has very strong beams so I rigged up a couple of strong weight lifting bars across the beams to spread the load & used two chain blocks to do the lifting...

Put some strong timber through the wheelarches to attach the straps...

Here try this link part 1 body off. I watched this series & it's pretty good, it does have a lot of sped up parts though.

Nicely done. I’m planning to do this on my Chim in a few weeks time. My garage isn’t very high though, what was the clearance height of the body to allow the chassis to be rolled out?

I never actually measured it but you can estimate the height required from this picture. As most others have done support/lift the body with timber through the wheel arches.

I was not happy to leave it like that as my chassis rebuild took about 6 months. Also keep the doors closed when you have the body suspended.
I rolled the chassis out and then lowered the body down onto some pre-made supports placed on both sides, and under the front and the boot.

Noel Flannery up here in Scotland uses 2 of these - Hydraulic Platform to get the body up (done on mine and another car).

The chassis has to come out side ways, but it worked well and we have since put supports under the center of the body as well.

If you do not have a lift etc it makes it easy for 1-2 people to do it.

The body has to clear the engine so if you pop the plenum & trumpets off you'll get more space. thumbup
