Thinking of going on a weekend break to Sicily next month and thought it would be fun to align it with the Targa Florio Classic on 10-13 October but can find very little information for spectators.

I've looked at their Facebook and website and found start/finish times and a very vague route map/graphic but that's about it. No information about viewing points or spectator facilities. They didn't reply to my email. Usual Italian organisation!

Has anyone been as a spectator? Is it best to hang around the start finish points or is it just a case of finding a spot by the roadside and hoping some cars come past? Do they run all day or just come by in groups? I know there's a public car display in Palermo Thursday night but would like to see the cars running.

I'll have a car and have driven the route before so know the area a bit but, don't want to be standing round in the Sicilian countryside waiting for cars that never come by. Ideally I'd find a cafe/restaurant in a village I can watch from but no information on that on the Internet either.

It seems it's more geared for participants than spectators.

I see you got a lot of responses to this!

Did you go? I'm thinking of going next year.

Lol no. I decided to skip it and flew to Venice instead. I'll do it another year though. My plan would just be to go to Palermo for the weekend it was on and see what's going on vis a vis the Targa. If I can't find anything I'll still have a nice weekend in Sicily.

I get that. We are thinking of booking a week's package somewhere like Campofelice, see the scrutineering in Palermo, next day wath them go out and come bqck, and the next, watch the cars coming along the coast and up into Parco delle Madonie. Then we have a few days to chill afterwards. Currently trying to find out next year's dates
