Just 6 weeks into Model 3 ownership (2024 model) and I've now moved to an EV tariff which is cheap between 00.30 and 05.30.

Home charger - Wallbox Max.

I tried last night to schedule charging for the first time, but I couldn't get it to work, wondered if I am missing something. Here's what is happening...

Firstly, I'm assuming I should only need to schedule on the Wallbox app and do nothing on the Tesla App.

When I usually charge manually, I just do it from the Wall box app, and the car accepts charge.

I am seeing that there is a schedule function on the tesla app, but I'm assuming that this doesn't talk to the Wall box charger. Last night I tried a number of test scenarios, i.e. just setting on Wallbox - didn't kick in. Then just setting on Tesla app, again didn't kick in. Then setting a corresponding schedule on both app, didn't kick in, but surely you shouldn't have to do this anyway.

Keen to sort this so I can benefit from the cheap rate, it's been a seamless transition up to now !

Firstly, have you considered Octopus Intelligent Go? You get additional slots at the cheap rate and the whole house benefits

I’d leave the wallbox settings as ‘always charging’ and use the Tesla timers to control things, just to save fiddling with an extra app. Unlike some other vehicles, I assume the Tesla setup is reliable as I don’t see people grumbling about it smile

Leave the charger set to always on and control the schedule from the car.

Scheduling in the Tesla software was greatly improved in the Summer update - it's far more flexible than it was.
