Right, the question is how to sort this out?

This is on an Audi I purchased recently, basically there is a coating on the glass and also on the rubber seal around the glass. A lot of the glass has been cleaned up but you see a bit at the top left of the window.

From what I understand has been done, basically the rubber seals have been lacquered with a rattle can, I can't quite believe what I am seeing but I need to sort it out.

So any suggestions appreciated as I don't fancy trying to replace bits on an 18 year old car so hoping the mess can be cleaned up.

Give some WD40 a go first if you have some on the shelf, its pretty good at getting a lot of stuff off. Ipa would be the next suggestion if that doesnt work.

Maybe try a strong APC mix with a magic sponge

Just a quick update.

The lacquer on the glass came off with some meths on a cloth plus a cotton bud to get into the corners, etc.

On the rubber I used some Goo Gone with a foam pad which has improved it a lot, I now have some 3M polishing pads which I will try with some Goo Gone but it is much improved and has revealed what I assume they were trying to cover up.

There are white marks on the rubber, googling has suggested these are hard water marks so will try some diluted white vinegar to dissolve, if it is polish then further googling needed.
