I have an itch which needs scratching and I cannot help but think Ferrari F430 best in class for £70-75k price range. I drove one around Silverstone on the paddles and it was magic ..... Is there a more prestigious brand, better car and more lively engine engine in a similar price bracket .... weirdly my other thought is a Morgan plus 8 as the BMW V8 is one of my favourite engines of all time ..

Can you get a Mclaren 12c or 650 in this bracket?
My choice if so

For me, in that price bracket, for all round use would be a 650S spider. Frank Stephenson designed the F430 & the 650s so there is a connection.

Cheapest 650s spiders on auto trader are £85k so I’m not sure how they fit the OP’s brief…

In fact, the only 650s in budget is a mingin’ white and poo brown leather coupe.

But I agree that a 650s is going to be a much better experience than an F430.

My vote for an F430 alternative at the price point would be a V12 Vantage. More compact and practical and because V12>V8.

Great choice especially now the prices have come down almost to 360 levels unless you are looking for a manual of cause,

With a decent exhaust fitted they almost sound as good as a 360,

Much improved interior along with the manettino makes the inside of 360 look dated ,

F1 change much improved over the 360 ,

490bhp compared to 395 bhp on the 360 which is a big improvement and it shows if you drive the cars back to back

Last of the analogue Ferrari's makes it more involving than say the 458 which is considerably more expensive ,

Go on scratch that itch you won't regret it ,just wonder why you didn't do it sooner yes

I had my 430 for four years and 10k miles. Loved it, was a great driving car and felt relatively raw.

I still miss it, just a little bit. But that could be the whole first Ferrari thing.

The F430 with aftermarket exhaust (I have capristo) is epic. Get NA whilst you can! For the record I also had a V12V - as a daily it was ok but for a weekend experience not comparable IMO.

Am I the only one who thinks the 430 is the one that got smacked about with the ugly stick? After it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Obviously not by the looks of things, for some reason the 360 gets heaps of praise were the 430 often gets criticised a far bit on here,

Don't understand it as they don't look a lot different if viewed driving by, apart from the obvious Enzo rear lights on the 430 .

Side by side the difference maybe more noticeable,

When i got let down by the seller of a huge spec 360 manual all the others i looked at looked so pain Jane compared so ended up

with a equally high spec 430 by accident and was so pleased i did,

Only thing i could fault was it lacks the high end scream that the 360 has even with a Capristo .

At this price very little beats the R8 V10 plus (gen 2). You get proper super car performance and sound, without the hassle…

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. I think a decent Mclaren is going to cost £80+. Undoubtedly the R8 V10 is a weapon but I've never been huge on Audi, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", as they say so cheers again for the suggestions. Will update any developments ...

We’ve got a Capristo on the 430 Scuderia and that is ASBO inducing loud and very vocal at high revs!
Agree with ratrod though, 360 better vocally top end, although 430 not too shabby in Race when pushing on. Have been trying to find some photos I had of the 360 and 430 together as I remember noticing at the time, when they are next to each other, the 360 looks slightly smaller, bit more svelte but that’s about it. 430, for me, is a much better car and drive.

Was told by Scuderia of Egham that if i wanted the whole effect although the stage 3 Capristo will help give it more volume

but needs a set of headers and sports cats to get the maximum sound ,all at a price of cause.

Yes that Kline with the help of the headers and test pipe sounded bonkers

Have an invoice supplied by the previous owner, from Scuderia parts, for nearly £13k (back in 2017) for that little lot, looks like parts supply only as well!

The K-Line system produces the high pitched sound as it’s an X-pipe configuration… from memory of the Ferrari chat thread it was just the back box.
