Passenger seat won't move--not a calibration problem
Discussion
I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down why my passenger seat won't move. The car is a 2011 V8 Vantage S Roadster with power/memory seats. Here's what I know:
The fuses are good
The heater and lumbar controls work fine
The seat back release button works fine
As far as I can tell, all of the wiring and connections look fine (though it's difficult to see much under the seat). The wiring going to the seat switch looks fine and the connection looks good.
None of the controls on the seat switch do anything...no forward, no back, no tilt, no seatback movement.
I pulled the wire connector from the seat motor and rigged up some leads to get power to the motor. Hooked up the leads to a 12V battery and the seat moves all the way forward and all the way back smoothly (other than a little dragging against the center console). So the seat motor is fine and nothing is jamming the tracks.
I can't get my test light probe into the plug that connects the seat switch pigtail and the harness and didn't really want to start poking holes in the wires with the pointy end of my test light. The fuse is good and the wires and connection look fine, so I'm assuming I'm getting power to the switch (may be a bad assumption ???)
Common sense tells me it's the switch, but I hate changing parts for the sake of changing parts. I'm hoping someone can tell me where to go from here.
Two side notes: 1) Seems like I read somewhere that the passenger seat bottom cushion doesn't tilt up and down. Is that true? 2) Weird thing on the drivers seat that works fine, but when you push the button forward (toward the dashboard) the seat move backwards and visa versa. What's that all about? Thanks for any help you can provide.
