What are people putting in their Chimaera's these days? I have (need) a small one as the fiberglass box is small and maximises the space in the footwell, mine has gave up and I don't think it's up to the job, surely a big V8 needs something beefier than the pic below?

It's 200mm long and 170mm deep if you know what i mean.... also while I'm here, what would this button be for that seems to be stuffed in the footwell along with the other gubbins there?

Thanks

looks like you have an "063" with 300A

Have a look here and choose one with a higher A figure (CCA), maybe the Varta C6, they are good batteries.

Switch could be "anything", follow the wires back, see where they go?

This is a drop in replacement for the box in my 1997

The main thing is getting the terminals the right way round, although the cables will generally reach if you get one the other way.

Since 4 years I have an Odyssey PC925, it's a compact but heavy battery.
It's a bit tricky to charge it if you let it die in the car without a maintainer or if you don't have a main circuit-breaker. Some chargers don't want to initiate the process however with another battery in parallel this works.

That switch might be the inertia switch.

Cooling fans override maybe, won't be the inertia switch.

Yeah, that's definitely not an inertia switch! Funny place to put a fan override switch if that is what it is?

I must admit I haven't pressed it with the engine on, maybe I'll try when I fit my new battery, I just tucked it out of the way last time I went under there and forgot about it, I'll let you know if anything happens

Or could it be a kind a hidden anti-theft circuit breaker?

Yes, you're right, I didn't click into the photo to see it properly.
It looks like household wiring, or at least insulated automotive wiring (I used a section that looked similar to replace the otter switch wire).

Where does it go to?

No idea, up somewhere lol, I'll press it a few times to see what happens

Na, nothing, I only had a press while ticking over on the drive, maybe it unleashes an extra 100 BHP when driving (I wish), one of those unexplained things then, so what my point really is sorry, I worded my original question badly, it is an aftermarket button of some sort, not a factory standard button? It just seems an odd thing to have that reaches about half way into the footwell that's all

Perhaps an immobiliser bypass for the starter? To help start the car if it fails to turn over when hot, perhaps?

I'll get a torch out when i can to see where it leads too. In all honesty I don't think it actually does anything, but I'll keep trying, thanks again

Follow the wire is the best way really, as said its not standard so should be easy to spot through the engine bay etc.
