Hello guys, i've recently changed the battery on my 2010 V8 Vantage Roadster.

Since then i've been experiencing the following:
1)Driver side: Cannot lower passenger side window and mirror
2)Driver side does not lock or unlock
3)Roof not opening

Note that all i have faced all of this problem in the past when changing a battery , and simply disconnecting the negative from the battery and then connecting it after a few minutes , followed by a window reset solved all the problems.

This time, every time i disconnect/reconnect the negative terminal everything works fine for a few minutes and then back to the issues mentioned above.

I've also removed fuse 82 and 83 many times since replacing the battery. Few of those times it worked but most of the times didn't.

What seems to somehow 'solve' the problem is disconnecting and then reconnecting the negative terminal.

Also i have noticed that since replacing the battery opening the windows and the roof is very slow (even the sound of opening them sounds like the battery is not charged fully), which makes me think that the battery they've installed wasn't new or was new but was sitting in warehouse for a long time.

Should i replace the battery again? Is there anything else i can do (before going on the door module topic)?

Is there an amount of time recommended to leave them disconnected (both fuses and negative terminal) or a sequence (e.g. disconnect fuses then disconnect battery, connect fuses then connect battery?)

Replacing the door module would be a huge problem as we dont have an Aston dealership or service shop in Cyprus, and from what i've read the door modules have to be reprogrammed when replaced which again makes the problem even bigger as no one over here has an Aston diagnostic program.

Please let me know what do u think.

Thanks a lot,

George

Hello George,

Have you driven the car since the new battery was fitted? Because if the battery has only just been fitted it's possible it isn't fully charged, so it might be an idea to either take the car on a long run or put the battery on a battery charger to make sure it's giving the correct voltage. Then try the usual resets. We know how much Aston Martins hate low battery voltage.

Your comment about the roof and windows seeming slow might also be indicative of low voltage, so it might be as well to make sure the connections at both battery terminals are clean (I usually use some medium wet-or-dry abrasive paper) and tight. Do this before charging the battery..

Hi, thanks for that.

I did drive the car but not more than 30 minutes. So i'll give that a go or connect it to the battery conditioner.

Hello, we've tried 3 different batteries on the car. All AGM 95Ah and 850 cca.

The following kept on not working, but once negative terminal was removed and reconnected everything worked for a while and then stopped again.

Since then i've been experiencing the following:
1)Driver side: Cannot lower passenger side window and mirror
2)Driver side does not lock or unlock
3)Roof not opening/Half opening and then displaying ‘roof movement paused’ and ‘roof operation failure’.

Fuses 82 and 83 have been removed and reconnected many times.

Any ideas as to what might be the issue? Also, if it’s the door module i’ve read that both sides must be changed, but is a reprogramming (by AM software) required?

The car is a 2010 model, and from what i’ve read the door modules have been upgraded from that year onwards.

We don’t have an Aston Martin authorised service centre in Cyprus so any information i can get would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help.
