DS7 1.5 diesel chain issues

Slightly 3rd hand info from a mate, but his 68 plate DS7 1.5 diesel has suffered from chain issues resulting in a proposed engine re-build (quoted £6k)

Does anyone know of any issues with this engine (I've seen a few forums that state chain stretch)
If so, is it clear if Citroen are covering the work given it's a very premature fail..

Although out of standard warranty, Citroen have made goodwill gestures in the past. It will probably depend on full dealership service history and will need to be on time.

Is it the cam chain or engine belt?

Thanks, looks like it's failed outside of an extended 5 year warranty that Citroen provided.

I mean, why on earth he's bought a 1.5 diesel DS7 to do 40k a year with no warranty is slightly beyond me..
