Had a lovely hour with Tesla Belfast on Saturday and loved my drive on a new Model 3 RWD. Much better car than my 2022 model but not twice as good! Do we know anything about the introduction of the Long Range RWD car for the British market? I know that they are much sought after in the older model.

How did you find the new seats? We found the ventilated seats less comfortable / harder / more perched than the older ones.

I was happy enough with them and loved the new steering wheel. Biggest problem seems to be Tesla's woeful trade-in valuation that automatically defaults to bottom book. My car was valued at a ridiculously low figure with 18,000 miles and like new inside and out. If Tesla can't match VW (against a new i7 estate) there is something badly wrong with their desire to retain customers.

I've found them the same from a 2020 SR to 2024 RWD.

LR RWD is available in Europe but U.K. seems to be at the back of every queue with Tesla at the moment so don’t hold your breath.

Only available to fleet orders, occasionally see some appear in stock from cancelled orders, but as a retail customer you cannot specifically order one.

I've just received an email from Tesla saying the Model 3 RWD is now available to order with a WLTP range of 702km.

I'm in Europe though, not the UK but maybe Tesla will bring this version to the UK soon. Watch this space.

That's excellent news. My M3 standard range has still less than 20,000 miles and during the 'summer' hit 5.6 miles per kw. As the battery in the LR is not iron based am I right in assuming that common practice is to charge it to 80% ?

Correct - that is the advice but nothing stopping you charging higher when you need to. A supercharge to 80% is also quicker than a charge to 100% with a smaller battery for the same range, so stil luseful to have the extra capacity even if you don't dip into it that often.

We were in our local Tesla service centre to buy a cabin filter last week. They had a RWD Long Range in the 'showroom' so we had a good look around it (whilst taking advantage of some free electricity and coffee smile ). The first thing my wife did after closing the door was to immediately open it and close it again, saying "listen to that". There was a noticeably better 'thud' than in our 2022 Model 3. I should point out that my wife likes cars but she'd barely notice any changes unless they were pointed out, so for her to notice this, indicates a significant change with this latest model. Looked good in the new red metallic paint too. I'm really not a lover of black (dark grey) wheels though. I do wish Tesla would offer an option of silver wheels with their latest model line up grumpy

Isn't the red a hefty option though.

Always thought Tesla colour palette was miserly.

Yes, I think it is pricey and I agree, colour choices are...errr...limited. Metallic silver has also been added to the palette though. That looks good too IMO.

In one way, I like that Tesla limit the options available. If they added the things I'd like, everyone else would want their preferences added too so where would it end?

I recently changed my 2020 SR for a new 2024 RWD, the thud is noticeable smile

Just had an email from Tesla offering a new Long Range M3 RWD for £349 per month (£4k deposit). Very tempted but has anyone on here got one and could shared their experience? Had to be registered this year before the end of December.

The LR RWD hasn’t been available long on the highland. I doubt anyone has had one for more than a week or so if they’ve got one at all. It’s fairly predictable stuff, a RWD but with the biggest range on the M3. If you can live with the indicator buttons on the steering wheel and a slide on the screen for forward/reverse then I’m sure it’s very good. But watch Tesla Bjorn on YT who thinks those changes are pretty stupid amd I personally agree with him

I've had my RWD for 6 months now. The indicators and and gear slide are IMO easy to adjust to, it's the headlight dipped/main beam that are more of a pain. The adaptive lights are good, but they don't dim quick enough, so using the manual button is the more courteous option.

Hopefully, a SW update moving forward will improve things.
