Something I’ve been meaning to ask since I was at Le Mans in June, this building just after the first chicane on the Mulsanne straight appears to have been demolished and something else was being built in its place

It was quite a distinctive style and had been a landmark for decades. It was a bit of a shame to see it go but does anyone know what is being built in its place?

That is a shame.

Found this online -

The Thibault group, a real estate developer in Le Mans, is carrying out the ambitious project to build a large commercial complex opposite Leroy Merlin, in the Cormier area of Mulsanne, in place of the former Meubles Courtin store.

"The current store opened its doors on 1er January 1979."

Oh what a shame. I had hoped that whatever replaced it would be something noteworthy. It feels each year that the circuit is further swallowed by the ever expanding industrial/retail estate.

Looks like there's a balcony on the proposed new building . . . would make for good spectating (if this industrial area is even open during the race . . . which I doubt).

the area is open during races......how much compensation would the likes of Leroy Merlin, McDonalds, Gifi, BUT etc want?
