Overtook another M2 the other day and I could have sworn that he had BSM - am sure there was an orange light in his offside mirror - or was I imagining things?

Do you use Track mode? Google suggests BSM turns off in track mode.

To activate or deactivate Lane Change Warning in your BMW with Operating System 8, select the following in the BMW iDrive operating system: "MENU" > "Vehicle apps" > "Driving settings" > "Driver assistance" > "Safety and warnings" > "Lane Change Warning"

Is that the same thing as BSM? My Lane Departure Warning is set to Medium.

No, it’s not. You need Driving Assisant Package for it (basically adaptive cruise control)

LCI2 version may now have it as the newer cars are coming through with it as standard.

First YT link explains the various functions BSM being a sub function of LDW system (steering plus visual indication in the mirrors) in all the BMWs I've had with it fitted I would set the steering off but leave the mirror visual indication on.

Second YT link is a demonstration of how to select what you want using idrive 8.

Mine is an LCI so maybe not standard on the older model.

I think that’s is probably the answer - simply looks as though I don’t have it, sadly.

A casual glance at your mirror would have told you that.

Well, yes but never having had a car that has them or looked that closely at other cars that might have, I was wondering if I might have had the ninja version paperbag
